There
are many different types of fencing availble to suit a variety of different needs the most popular are outlined below. Chainlink Fencing When used in the domestic situation, common heights for Chainlink fencing are 900mm, 1200mm and 1800mm. Chainlink
is made in a number of different wire gauges, the thicker the wire the more expensive it is, but it is more durable and longer
lasting. As with the height, the gauge size will depend on the surrounding area, maybe you just want a border fence, so the
thinner gauge may suffice, but for pet control or security, the thicker mesh is recommended. Closeboard Fencing Closeboard fencing, one of the names given to any kind of solid board fencing, is one of the most favoured types of
fence for domestic use. It is usually constructed with featherdge boards and is erected using a rail framework, these are
usually triangular arris rails, although the basic square rails can also be used. Closeboard is very flexible in it's style,
it's appearance can be changed to best suit the situation, the height and length can be adjusted to the surroundings. Palisade/Picket Fencing Palisade fences, also known as Picket fences, are used when an unobtrusive fencing solution is required. The standard
height of Palisade fences are 900mm, 1050mm and 1200mm, although up to 1500mm is available. There are 3 types of palisade
tops available; pointed top (often called 2-way top), round top and square top. Palisade fencing, once erected, can be painted
or stained any colour to suit; a common applied finish is the white painted palisade fence. Panel Fencing Lap panels are made to suit different budgets, this means that they also come with different attributes. The most common
is the medium weight panel, usually labeled "fully framed", meaning they have timber batten around the outside edge. Some
lighter weight panels do not have a batten covering the bottom (if using concrete posts you will need "fully framed" panels).
Panels are available in a number of common heights; 3ft (915mm), 4ft (1220mm), 5ft (1525mm) and 6ft (1830mm). Post and Rail Fencing Although more commonly seen in the agricultural sector, Post and Rail is becoming increasingly popular within the
domestic area. This type of fence is best suited for more rural locations and field boundaries. Post and rail can be erected
on level or sloping ground. Post and rail is a generic term used to describe any fencing system comprising of solid timber
rails. There are a number of common variants such as; sawn, cleft and half-round. For more information on fencing please contact us. (commercial enquiries welcome) Public and Private Boundary Walling
